Working throughout San Diego to distribute 1.5 million pounds of food each month.
From Vista to Chula Vista, our partner agencies are distributing our food to hungry families every day. And with our Metro and Rural Mobile Pantry routes, we are bringing food to the front lines of the hunger struggle.
Metro Mobile Pantry (Formerly Community Food Distributions)
Feeding America San Diego delivers a truckload of food to neighborhoods that have a high incidence of poverty, yet relatively low levels of emergency food assistance. With the rising cost of food and fuel, coupled with the declining economy, this program is becoming increasingly important. In the last few months, the number of neighborhood food distributions has increased over 600%.
In addition to daytime distributions, Feeding America San Diego tailors its efforts to reach working people by distributing food in the evenings as well as on weekends. Ralph's Mobile Pantry Program
FASD's Mobile Pantry Program is on the road 24 days a month, visiting 17 sites biweekly, reaching the northern and eastern rural parts of San Diego County. The Mobile Pantry Program is designed to reach out to those areas with little to no access to food or transportation. Individuals and families will take home 20-30 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables, bread and other staple items. FASD has been partnering with the Salvation Army Back Country, the National Latino Research Center, Poder Popular, and North County Health Services to identify rural distribution points, and we will be adding routes throughout the year to make sure we are hitting the areas with the highest need.

SNAP Outreach
Feeding America San Diego’s SNAP Outreach Program is a new and exciting program for both clients and partner agencies all over San Diego County. Unfortunately, SNAP participation rates in San Diego County are the lowest in the country, with only 40 percent of eligible households participating. Feeding America San Diego is working hard to help increase participation rates and help improve SNAP policy and barriers that inhibit people from applying and receiving benefits. FASD supports both agencies and clients through a train-the-trainer model that empowers partner agencies to provide SNAP services to their own respective clients and through direct client services in North County and rural areas of San Diego.
