Food Resources
Feeding America San Diego relies on support from corporate partners and local donors to source its food.
National Partnerships
Feeding America San Diego obtains a large amount of product through our affiliation with Feeding America, which stewards relationships with national corporate donors such as Kraft, Kellogg's, ConAgra, and General Mills.
Food Rescue
FASD partners with more than 125 local grocery stores and retailers, such as Albertsons, Food4Less, Ralphs, Target, and Walmart to receive an average of over 700,000 pounds of fresh food each month. Produce, dairy, baked goods, meats, and other perishable items are generously donated and picked up directly by our partner agencies. Recognized throughout the Feeding America network for its efficiency and effectiveness, this model enables us to provide nutritious, complete meals to our local community.
Feeding America San Diego is the official partner of Donate Don't Dump. Both organizations are working together to reduce waste and divert nutritious food to families struggling with hunger throughout our community.

Local Reclamation
Damaged food items found in grocery stores are typically not purchased by discriminating food shoppers. Dented cans, torn cereal boxes and other perfectly safe nutritious food items are "reclaimed" for use. Rather than going to the landfill, these items are received, sorted, cleaned and safety checked by volunteers at our distribution center. Ralphs, Albertsons, Big Lots, and Walgreens currently supply reclamation.
Produce Program
The California Association of Food Banks provides fresh fruits and vegetables that is distributed through our direct-to-client and partner agency programs. Additionally, FASD distributes fresh product donated by the produce industry, Feeding America, and our local gleaning partners. We obtain, transport, and deliver fresh produce to our network of non-profit agencies. Fresh produce is vital to a healthy community and is the future of nutrition banking.
Purchased Product
In order to supplement our food donations and ensure a nutritious mix of product, FASD also purchases food. Relationships with local vendors and partners enable us to leverage highly discounted product.
