The House of Representatives approved the new Farm Bill after a two-year impasse on Wednesday, January 29, 2014. If finalized by the Senate and signed into law by President Obama, 850,000 households in all 16 “heat and eat” states, including California, will see a $90/month reduction in CalFresh benefits. Winter Fun Café
During winter intersession when school lunches are not available, the San Diego Unified School District will host fifteen Winter Fun Café sites January 6th through 17th, providing nutritious lunches for free to kids age 18 and younger without proof of income required or eligibility requirements.
